Annually on the eve of the winter solstice at 6:45 p.m. a Memory Tree Illumination ceremony is held. This community program honors, and celebrates the lives of residents and their loved ones. The program includes music, reading of honorees names and the lighting of two trees on the front lawn of the church. All donations made to the Memory Tree Illumination benefit the Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department.
Following the tree lighting a non-denominational service of lessons and carols is held across the road at the Starksboro Village Meeting House. The candle light service begins at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments are served downstairs following the service.
